I starred in the Titanic commercial for the History Channel, National Geographic, Discovery Channel and BBC Knowledge. It was lots of fun and it was to promote the 100^th anniversary of the sinking of the (unsinkable) Titanic.

It took a whole day with about 60 takes. I was cast as a little girl in 1912. This was the year the Titanic sunk.  I was filmed playing by a pebbly beach when I find a baby’s doll on the shore of the water. The doll and other things on board the Titanic had been washed up to shore after the Titanic sunk.

This was a really fun day and I had a day off school to film this commercial. Mum and I drove a long way out, to a beach called Toowoon Bay on the Central Coast.  It was a really sunny day.

As soon as I got there I had someone dressing me, she was from the Wardrobe Department (Pip Hain). I also had someone doing my hair and make-up (Suzy Mahalm) and a dedicated nurse for the day (Judy King), who basically held an umbrella over me all day, because they didn’t want me to get sunburnt. Since my mum had to be there all day too, that meant I had 4 adults taking care of me and that was cool! There were also a crew of over 20 people filming the commercial.

There was an enormous truck that supplied breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and all the snacks we wanted to eat! I got a muffin that was the size of my head!

I loved being dressed up in the fancy costume, but the problem was it was so hot and it had nine layers! All I wanted to do was jump into the water. I made a deal with Carley, my Production Manager, that if I did everything she asked me to do, she would swim with me at the end of the day. We didn’t finish until after 6pm and even though it was then dark and cold, Carley kept her deal and we had a fun swim together.

I met so many people that day and I wanted to say “thank you” to everyone, you all made it a special day!
